What is a White Matter Structure

White matter is what most of your brain is consisted of. The axons of your neurons (the wires) make up much of the white matter. A white matter structure is distinguishable bundles of these wires (axons) that travel from some part of the brain to other. White matter integrity is very important for different grey matter structures to be in communication and create what is essentially you.

DTI/DSI imaging aims to reconstruct and examine white matter structures of the brain.
